We live, work, shop, and do many other things throughout our week, passing hundreds of people who are just like us… mostly focused on the task at hand. This even occurs in our churches; we can attend a certain service, sit in a particular location and never really get to know our “church family.”

We’d like to change that.  The scriptures say we should gather together, break bread together, encourage one another and be together in community (Acts 2:42-47; Hebrews 10:24-25; and Matthew 18:20). Dinner for Eight is a fun and meaningful way to do just that – to connect with other people who attend our church.  Beginning in January 2020, small groups will meet in each other’s homes to share a meal and get to know each other better.  Our goal is to have as many Dinner for Eight groups as possible meeting throughout the 757.  In addition, we will still have our traditional life groups, and will be exploring other opportunities to help build community.

How will Dinner for Eight work?

What are we looking for right now?

How will Dinner for Eight work?

  • Groups of eight-twelve people are asked to meet 6-8 times (at least twice a month during a three-month life group semester.
  • The plan is for the groups to rotate hosting the meetings in multiple homes of group members (but don’t worry if you are unable to host we still want you to be a part).
  • The focus of each meeting is desired to be high on fellowship & getting to know each other through “breaking bread” together or other fun activities you might come up with.  We will also  provide short devotional materials based on the weekend services.
  • The groups will begin in January and again in May & September; however, our plan is to allow people to register anytime during the year, we will do our best to fit you into an existing group.
  • We need to find people who will be interested in being participants in Dinner for Eight groups.
  • We need to find people who would consider volunteering to be group coordinators.  Coordinators will be responsible for contacting people in their groups to set up a schedule of group meetings and host homes.  We will also ask coordinators to report to us on when groups meet and their attendance.  We will be having group coordinator meetings prior to launching the groups to provide more direction on what this will entail
